Oven to Air Fryer Converter
Enter the temperature and time from your recipe. You will get the air fryer setting straight away.
Air fryer setting
That temperature is above your air fryer's maximum, so we capped it and added 10% to the time to compensate.
The 25°F / 20% rule is a widely used convention, not a measured physical constant. We have not tested it in a lab, and no air fryer we know of has been calibrated against it. Treat the result as a starting point and check your food. How we know what we know.
The oven to air fryer rule
An air fryer is a small convection oven. The fan moves hot air directly across the food, so heat transfers faster than in a conventional oven. To convert any oven recipe, lower the temperature by 25°F (about 15°C) and cut the cooking time by 20%.
Air fryer temp = oven temp − 25°F · Air fryer time = oven time × 0.8
Example. A recipe calling for 400°F for 20 minutes becomes 375°F for 16 minutes in an air fryer.

Common questions
What is the conversion from oven to air fryer?
Reduce the oven temperature by 25°F (15°C) and reduce the cooking time by 20%. A recipe for 400°F for 20 minutes becomes 375°F for 16 minutes.
Do you reduce cooking time in an air fryer?
Yes. Air fryers cook roughly 20% faster than a conventional oven because the fan drives hot air directly onto the food instead of relying on ambient heat.
Do you preheat an air fryer like an oven?
Most air fryers reach temperature in 2–3 minutes rather than 10–15. Preheating improves browning on meat and frozen foods, but it is optional for most recipes. These conversions assume no preheat.
Why does my air fryer recipe still come out undercooked?
Almost always overcrowding. Air fryers cook by moving air, so food packed into a full basket steams instead of roasting. Cook in batches and leave gaps.
Is 350°F in an oven the same as 350°F in an air fryer?
No. The same number on the dial cooks faster and browns harder in an air fryer because of the airflow. That is why you drop the temperature by 25°F when converting.
What if the converted temperature is higher than my air fryer allows?
Set the air fryer to its maximum and add roughly 10% to the cooking time. The calculator above does this automatically once you set your maximum temperature.
