Why this site exists, and how the numbers on it are worked out.
The problem this solves
Search for how long to cook something in an air fryer and you will usually land on a recipe blog: a photograph, a story about someone's grandmother, a list of ingredients you did not ask for, and — eventually, several screens down — the two numbers you actually wanted. Meanwhile your food is sitting on the counter.
AirFryerMinutes exists to put those two numbers at the top of the page. Temperature and time, immediately, on a page that loads instantly on a phone with greasy hands. Everything else sits below that.
Where the numbers come from
Cooking times assume a basket-style air fryer cooking a single layer of food with space around it, which is what most home air fryers are. Where a food behaves differently by cut, size or thickness, we publish a table rather than pretend one number covers every case.
Safe internal temperatures are taken from United States Department of Agriculture guidance, not from our own testing, and appear on every page covering meat, poultry or fish. Where our cooking time and the safe temperature disagree, the temperature wins — and we say so on the page.
The conversion maths
The oven to air fryer rule — reduce temperature by 25°F, reduce time by 20% — is the widely used standard, and it works because an air fryer is a small convection oven with an aggressive fan. Our converters apply it consistently and, unlike most, let you set your own machine's maximum temperature so the result is achievable on your dial.
One deliberate omission: we do not present microwave-to-air-fryer as a temperature formula. A microwave has no temperature — it heats by wattage. Any calculator giving you a tidy equation for that conversion is inventing the numbers. Ours estimates by food type and says plainly that it is an estimate.
How this site makes money
Display advertising, and affiliate commission if you buy something through a link we have marked as an affiliate link. Neither affects what we publish: cooking times are not adjusted to favour any product, and we do not accept payment for placement in a chart. Detail is in the privacy policy.
